Hey there, I’m Krissy!

I’m a macrame artist and the creator of A Knot Story; my macrame decor and accessories business. I live in the Bay Area of California and hail from Toronto, Canada.

I have always loved crafts and making things with my hands, but nothing really stuck long-term. Then one day I found a macrame kit on Amazon and decided to try a few things I had seen on Instagram. I ordered it and immediately fell in love. I started in August of 2020 and have been macrame’ing every day since!

I love trying new things with macrame and am still trying to find my niche (as all small business advise will tell you to do). But I do very much love creating beautiful statement pieces that also serve a purpose. Whether it be an intricately elaborate plant hanger or a beautifully detailed mandala that also hangs earrings; when it can serve as both a statement piece and make your life a little easier, I feel like I have done my job.

I decided to call my business A Knot Story because I knew this venture would be a journey for me and every piece would be a new chapter. Like a good book, macrame brings me so much joy and gives me so much inspiration. And I hope to pass that onto you; every time you look at your very own unique piece.

Sustainability

From day one, I knew A Knot Story would be sustainable in all possible aspects. Here are a few ways I have achieved that thus far:

  • All my pieces are exclusively made with 100% recycled cotton cord from Unfettered Co.

  • Accessories such as a comb for pieces that have fringe is 100% biodegradable, courtesy of Bleeker & Rowe

  • I only use 100% recycled tissue paper from EcoEnclose to wrap my pieces in for shipping (unless I am reusing tissue paper that I received from gifts or deliveries)

  • I repurpose and reuse any and all possible boxes, envelopes, mailers and more that I can for shipping to avoid purchasing them myself

  • All my packages are packed to ensure the safe delivery of the order, but do not contain anything other than what is needed in order to reduce waste once you have received the order

  • I save as many of my cord scraps as possible and reuse them for other projects or to create fun, little freebies for my clients

There are so many options that promote green living and sustainability. I firmly believe that the least we can do as a society is to research and adopt them as often as possible.
